Assembly has contributed to agency Yucolab's project for Cartier's interactive showroom opened in K11 Musea. We were responsible for thinking of interactive UI/UX for the user journey that happens in the showroom. We studied Cartier's identity and inspired a vintage and slightly magical approach to the trip, and Cartier welcomed the concept with satisfaction.
Part 1 - Interactive Story Book
There will be a CG movie describing the origin story of Cartier's signature panther elements. However, Cartier requested that they want users have immersed experience and be able to interact with the movie. Inspired by the gaming experience on Nintendo's devices, Assembly presented a solution.
There will have a tablet for the user as an interactive portal. From time to time, the story could stop at a critical moment and ask the user to perform a simple task on the tablet to continue the story, which we shall call a term "magic moment"'. For example, one critical scene is about the female protagonist getting a necklace from her lover, which inspired her whole life. At that moment, the tablet will turn into a book-like jewelry box with the middle made as hollow, containing the necklace glooming and asking for the user to touch it.
The UI design of using an actual book with realistic objects displayed inside can create an immersed experience for the user because it resembles the 19th century when the story was happening. The idea successfully appealed client.
Part 2 - Timeline Museum
Cartier would like to walk through with visitors to learn about their incredible history. They would like a video to showcase many unique products invented in the past. To add interactive elements, Assembly presents the idea of flying through a time tunnel with heroic products passing by. Nostalgic cogs will show up in the book (the tablet). Visitors can turn the cogs to control the back and forth in the time tunnel.
Part 3 - The Catalog
Cartier requested a catalog section to showcase information on their latest product. At first, presenting with a contemporary eShop style app layout did not satisfy Cartier. We tried to think out of the box and suggested a bold idea. To be consistent with the immersed experience, we presented a magical natural forest and an elegant museum. The products are well placed in the scenario and waiting for users to explore. The exploration method utilizes the book (the tablet). The user shall find a navigation tool, perhaps a glass ball or a compass, to navigate the virtual environment like a panorama.
The idea was successful. Assembly was then also responsible for the artwork production of the background environment.
